07/03/17 11:35 Finder did not have any interaction with animal as the animal was in a trap Behavior during intake: Kitten was nervous and trying to hide during intake. Counselor was able to transfer into a carrier without any issues. Once in the carrier, kitten was squished against the back of the carrier and was hissing. . Counselor was unable to collar.

Name and A#: Almond A1117323 Date: 7/6/2017 KNOWN HISTORY: Almond came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Kitten was nervous and trying to hide. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Nervous, but allowed some handling EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Almond is sitting near the front of the cage, body neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Almond looks at the assessor, a bit tense. Reaction to cage door opening: Almond retreats to the back of the cage. Reaction to touch: Almond hisses and shifts away, but tolerates petting. Reaction to being picked up: Almond quickly jumps down from assessor’s arms, fearful. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Skittish POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Fearful – Kitten socialization BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Please note that Almond is being treated for an upper-respiratory infection at the time of the assessment, and that this may affect the behaviors shown. RECOMMENDATIONS: – No young children – Experienced cat parent Behavior observations _x_ Experienced Almond tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced home with no small children.
