Tuxedo Girl Allspice came into our care center with an open wound fracture on her hind leg and needs a possible amputation.

EENT: 3 retained deciduous mandibular incisors
INT: fleas ++ coat, open wound extending down to muscle on medial R hock about 2 cm in size, palpable bone fragments
MS: R hock Fx, increased laxity laterally, BCS 4/9
ABD: nsf

sedated with 0.1 cc each buprenex dexdomitor and telazol IM
0.5 cc pen G SC
wound flushed w LRS and debrided
bandage placed with SSD
75 SC LRS
x-ray : complete fracture of R medial malleous
A: open fractured R medial malleolus
P: recc new hope placement for amputation, pain management with buprenex 0.05 cc SC BID, clavamox po BID, baytril inj SID . This is not a case that can be managed at ACC as it is extremely painful and pt at risk for sepsis without IV antibiotic therapy
Prognosis
GUARDED– good with amputation but open fracture is very susceptible to infection without immediate intervention
