STRAY INTAKE: 6/01/2016
Initial Exam (6/01/16)
Sex: Female
Scan: Negative
Estimated age: 2 days old
Fleas: Moderate amount of flea dirt.
Hx: Found under a car, no other cats or kittens nearby
S: Moves in response to touch. Mews. Placenta still attached.
O: Moves appropriately in response to touch. BCS 4/9, MMs pink and moist
EENT: Eyes and ears still closed.
PLNs: Not enlarged.
H/L: Eupnic, no resp distress.
Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated
M/S/I: Amb x4. Intact, moist, fetid placenta still attached to umbilical cord, although the 4 cm of cord closest to the pt is shriveled and brown. No skin lesions noted. Small amount of dried blood on R hip. Debris +/- flea dirt in coat.
UG: Female
Pt urinated with stimulation
Removed placenta and auto-ligated umbilical cord about 3 cm away from umbilicus
A:
- 2 day old neonatal kitten with placenta still attached
- Blood on hip – R/O from placenta. No injuries noted.
Short-term prognosis: Fair to poor due to age
P: Administered 0.05 ml ponazuril and 0.05 ml Panacur during exam. Wiped clean with wet gauze. Placed pt on heat support, will feed pt when warmer.
